Split gas tank????

am i missing something here?? after leaving a big tar like gas smelling mess this morning i found this....







it's a good 10 inches long and atleast 3/4 of an inch deep.....

Where is the fuel coming from? The pinch seam on the tank, or the fittings in the fuel pump area? You either have a failed fuel line connection (relatively easy fix) or your tank has failed (more involved fix), depending on the source.

Errrr not to be too opportunistic, but if you need a new tank I've got a couple nice ones.

Please be very careful - don't let the fuel vapors concentrate in your garage. When working down there, I like to pull the fuel pump relay and disconnect the battery. Can't be too careful when dealing with gasoline.

fuel pump and lines are dry, its either from that ridge/crack or the drain hole.

ARG!!! im still chasing a poor performance issue and now this.....
