do 968 wheels fit an SC ?????

any advice appreciated.

Also will it need spacers?

Well, they surely won't fit on a 72 911. I own both cars and have tried it. It would take longer studs and a wider spacer, at least on my 72.

Typically 1 inch spacer up front, 2 in the rear. Either longer studs or studded spacers are needed.
