Yokohama S.drive impressions
Just thought I give everyone my initial impression of Yokohama's S.drive. I am coming front 18" RH wheels with 225/40 and 255/35 Goodyear F1 gs-d3's.
Sizes: 205/55-16 (on 7" 951 Fuchs) 225/50-16 (on 8" 951 Fuchs w/ 6mm spacer) Looks: The fronts are a little "chunky" to my eyes, due mainly to the very large rim protector but they really fill out the fenders. The sidewalls are basically flush with the fender, maybe a little projection. This surprised me. The rears look really nice. Tread and sidewall are nice. Ride/Noise: Much much nicer. Car feel so much better, much more solid over bumps. No more crashing. Noise levels are low, but the g-yrs were good too. Handling: Wet - very nice, especially given they were brand new. Dry - turn-in is really good, but slightly less than the 18's (obviously). Overall grip is high, but very lively compared to the +2 combination. I always thought 225/255 was too much for the road unless you were just looking for overall grip levels. Straight line stability is very good. Foogert's on Sepulveda (culver city, ca) put them on and did a good job. |
