Question E-Brake Handle Removal?

I have a '77 911 and I'd like to replace the plastic e-brake handle with a mahogany one to match the custom shift knob and old Momo wheel I've installed. My problem is that I don't know how to remove the black plastic handle from the brake lever itself. Can this be done in an elegant way? Is it press-fit like the plastic shift knob? Do I have to destroy the original handle? If anyone has done this kind of thing, I'd appreciate any advice. Also, does anyone know of a company that makes custom brake handles? I'd rather buy one than have to fabricate my own.

Thanks
greg

I have to cut mine. They are pretty tight.
