Door ding
Went to a PDR and the tech was good enough to come out and ask what it would take to take the inner door off to get to the ding. I said I would take it apart and bring it back to him.
Well I did, and of course the dent cannot be massaged out from behind the door on account of the crash brace in the door. What can be done besides respraying the door and fading into the fenders? Thanks for any help. ![]()

I cannot answer you directly but a recent thread here showed the experts at work and they DID NOT do it from the inside of the door! There are PDR's and there are PDR's. I think you should try again. Hopefully, whoever posted their experience will refer you to a master.

Thanks Ossiblue. I forgot about that one. Anyone know of where to get PDR done without going underside? I'm in the DFW area.

I would try another dent service. They can often/usually heat the end of the dent tool and melt through the seam sealer and sound deadening material to get their tools between the door beam and skin. (I've had my guy do this on my SC).
The other option is as suggested, to find a guy with the 'pops-a-dent' glue on system. They glue a removable stud to the paint and gently pull with a slide hammer or 'T' handle. (Hope the paint is factory or a good re-spray). Good luck, Cooper

With a typical dent like that (and any dent that is from the outside in like that), it has to be pushed from the inside. The hammering on the outside, like the guys in the thread you linked to, is to "fine tune" it by knocking down the high spots caused by the PDR tool when it pushes out the dent. A glue stick could get some of that dent out, but unless you get very lucky, a dent guy will still need access to the back of it to do a decent job. Glue sticks are generally only to take a very rough first crack at large dents. |

So, the door beam is not welded/bonded to the outer door skin?
There's a lot of room in there now. I'm going to see if I can get a house call.

Called RUF and asked if they had a PDR guy they trusted. Hans Hoffman rattled off Mike Clarke of Xtreme Street Works at 972 731 8333. Must have had him memorized.
Mike estimated every dent out of the car for a price I thought reasonable, even ones I did not see and he got them out. He did the house call. I could not be more pleased. Mike also does dealer work on Maserati and Ferrari. He told me that aluminum bodied cars are much trickier than steel. He kept praising the great German metal of my car and he really seemed to have fun. Here are the photos. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
