Hand Throttle problem/question
I was reading another thread (Missing Hand Throttle- '68 coupe)
on hand throttle issues and remembered that hand throttle on my '72 911 has come "loose" meaning it felt like a cable came out of it's fitting or something like that, rendering it useless. There are a lot of great diagrams, pics and parts listed in the other thread but my questions is: On the 911 where does the other end (end opposite the pull level) of the push rod/cable attach? To a fitting on the accelerator cable? To the accelerator peddle assembly? OR??? The pics in the other thread are confusing to me. Any one else have this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks much. |

It's attached in the tunnel. It's a slide on the throttle linkage rod. It's plastic and they commonly break. I'll see if I can upload a diagram.
PN 901 424 317 00 If you want to go to PET, it's Main Group 7, Sub Group 01, Illustration 701-20, Part 20 I can't seem to upload it. Last edited by milt; 02-03-2009 at 12:26 PM.. |

Milt,
Thanks for the reference. but excuse my ignorance here...what is "PET"? How do I use it? Is it an online parts diagram/reference tool? Thanks. |

They are still available. I just bought one last year. It is a pain to install.
I found it easier to assemble the throttle lever to the components that live in the tunnel under the emergency Brake Assy (EBA) and then pass it through the EBA plate. To do this you will need to elongate the EBA base plate throttle slot enough to pass the lever through from the bottom. Mine needed about 1/4". After you unbolt the (EBA) pull it up and push it aside. Then you can see what needs to be done to assemble the new piece on the throttle rod/lever. Put it together with the EBA pushed out of the way. Then pass the assembled throttle lever, sans knob, through the elongated slot, drop the EBA into place no bolts yet, and reattach the throttle lever to the emergency brake housing. Then bolt the brake housing in place and make sure it all works.

Thanks gentlemen, I'll check out the PET diagram and re-read the previous thread on this topic. I'll get it!
