recommended 245/xx/16 tires? Hankook?
Hi,
I tried a search but couldn't find anything... Does anyone have a recommendation for the best "performance street" tires in a 245/xx/16 size? I'd prefer 245/45/16, but could consider 245/50/16. The best option seems like the "Hankook Ventus R-S2". Any opinions? It's for my 914/6 3.6, and have I dedicated track tires, this is for around town and weekend drives. ![]() -Steve |

I have the Hankooks in 245/45/16 on my rears. I really like them.
I've actually used them for the street and autocross for the last two years and they've done really well. This year I will have dedicated track tires as well.

I have 245/45/16 Hankook Ventus R-S2 mounted on 16x7 Fuchs in the rear. No issues.
Also have seen the Yokohamas in your pic in the same size run on track days, looked like they held up well. Either one would be fine.

I cannot say enough good things about the Hankook Ventus R-S2's. These tires are amazing on the track and street. They have excellent wet and dry traction. Even my last DE instructor couldn't get over the grip. After 2 days, flat-out at VIR this past November, these tires showed little wear compared to others I've used in the past. I've had Bridgestone SO3's and various Potenza's tires, all pale in comparison. You won't be dissapointed with performance and $$$ price.
Here's a shot of me pushing the limits of these tires at VIR.

Another great street performance tire that's affordable is Avon. Tirerack has them in many sizes including 245-45-16. I ran them on my forged 951s alloys and they performed great, and were a quiet tire. They come out of Great Britain.

Hankook RS2 great tires and affordable, 245/45/16 on a 16x9 Fuch.
Had the Ssumitomo's before they lasted a long time, seemed louder on the freeway? But the RS2 wears well, quiet and just works great. |

Tire Rack liked the Dunlops best but they don't have the sizes I was after. I'm leaning toward Hankook. Several guys in our Saturday morning breakfast club really like them.
