an excellent answer!

however, that was not the question -- perhaps this will help...

I realize it is difficult to determine what that liquid is, without savoring the rich aroma...

That is a Riedel wine glass BTW.

thanks! That is a genu-wine Reidel glass. The spendy ones -- I got it cheap -- the box is marked for restaurant/wine shop use only, but these are exactly the same as the ones retail marks, er - I mean customers, pay $20 or $30 for.

Yes, I'll be glad to send it to you after I am done with it (i.e. run it thru the motor for about 5,000 miles). Send me your address...

I run them thru the dishwasher all the time. Top shelf & I wait for them to cool off before grabbing onto them and storing. I also make sure nothing bumps into them. They need their space after all...

since we are veering OT, I'll just note that you are supposed to soak the bronze pedal bushings in oil overnight before installation - that is why they are in there

bushings

All;

Just my $.02, but aren't they oilite bronze bushings? If so, no need to soak, they are impregnated with oil from the manufacture. Should last a lifetime...Class act though for soaking them.

+1

I have my doubts on whether atmospheric oil soaking of bronze really does anything long term. I would think putting some grease on them during install would do the same.
BTW - regular old bronze is a pretty good bearing material when all surfaces are good.

If someone wanted to machine this alloy from plain stock, where would one (I) get it.

Yes, I realize that the sintered bronze is impregna1ted with oil. Dealer parts guy said to soak 'em - it requires no effort, no cost; so I did

I would ask around at metal sales shops for the material.
