The VIN you posted indicates a 1971 S Targa. That doesn't mean that it still has it's original engine and trans. Further investigation is definitely warranted.

That does appear to be a 1971 911S Targa

thanks guys, just got back home, a friend found this car while attending a funeral, and told me about it. from what little a could see, (it was wrapped up in about 5 tarps) it looks like a solid unmolested car. the original owner passed last week, (he was 79) and had started to restore the car, the motor has been out and something done to it cause it looks like a fresh overhaul (maybe). his wife wants it gone, so im gonna offer her a thousand and see. wish it was a coupe.

Man, I love these stories! Post the engine #'s if you can--that will really make this a "find" if they are "S" numbers.
Good luck.
