1969E Restoration questions
Hi all-
Started the tear down of my newly acquired '69 E. 1-30-09 - Drove off trailer and parked... ![]() 1-30-09 - No time wasted, up on jack stands ![]() 2-3-09 - Front trunk ![]() 2-4-09 - Comments by painter? Original color Tangerine ![]() 2-5-09 - Floor ![]() Two-point seat belts were mounted through holes in the pan behind seats. Where would the bottom mounts for 3-point belts mount? Same spot?

2-7-09 Creeper surfing
![]() 2-7-09 Inside sound deadening ![]() Leave in place or remove and blast? 2-7-09 Engine sound deadening ![]() Leave in place or remove and blast? Wiring harness appears to be in decent shape. What are folks thoughts of leaving the harness in place while the car is blasted?

Wow!! Incredible progress! I am sorry I cannot give any suggestions on the info you requested, I am not quite at that point yet with mine, but please update as you go along, these are probably the best posts to follow.

Starting with these;
Which blasting media are you considering to work with ? What is the end result and use you are thinking about ? How much $$$$ are you willing to part with to achieve the above ? |

Welcome to the best 911 Forum on earth. Your project looks very cool. To answer your question, check the first two photos in this thread (Newer seats in an older car?) for how the Long Wheel Base (LWB) cars had their belts mounted to the seat. Also, while the crowd is somewhat different, you may also want to check out the Early 911S Registry BBS (http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/index.php). Knowledgeable folks over there as well.

Were you looking for a rotisserie?
Ron: I think you posted a need for a rotisserie. I have one but I can't loan it for more than a year. I too have a 69E (the rotisserie came with the car!). I repaired the floor pan, restored the suspension, and its now at Scott Yeaman's for paint.
Let me know if you still need one. ![]()

The sound deadener /engine pad adhesive is difficult to remove. I used heat and lots of scraping with putty knives.
I left the wiring in my car when I blasted it. I took plastic, gallon, milk jugs, split them from the opening, down one side, inserted the (marked/labeled) wiring and wrapped it all in duct tape for protection. Worked great. As mentioned above ...the seat belts attach at the base of the seats, not the floor.

I'd remove the engine side pad for sure and replace with a new one.
What are your goals for the car? That will determine the amount of work you willingly suffer to remove the interior sound deadening. |
