oil consumption after overhaul after break in 15K

What would you expect oil consumtion to be on a 3.2 carrera that has new rings and valve guides, after broken in lets say after 15,000 miles? amount of oil per 1,000 miles ? thanks JL

Definitely not more than a quart every 1000 miles. Mine after rebuild is about a quart every 2500 miles and that is with 20K miles on the rebuild.

Does it leak any oil? A thousand per qt is "again" well within porsche spec for the car. Porsche spec's are a litlle laxed if you ask me, they say 500mi per qt is ok. I have disputed this for years and have gotten results from other that say their miles per qt range from 500 to 3000, I still can't make sense of it, mine is around the same as yours, but mine is a 3.0, I still feel that is on the poor side, porsche say's it's great. Mine does not smoke at start up or under hard acceleration, I can push it to 6200k let off the gas and still no smoke, it drips a little but where the hell the oil goes I can't figure out, porsche say's it's well within the spec for oil consumption. Some have posted porsche documents showing 1 and 1/2 qt per 600 mi is good, figure that one out.
