head to cylinder sealing ring

on a 2.7 cis is it possible to install the sealing ring upside down one side is flat and the other is kinda sharp i imagine one end gets crushed down. any knowhow on this matter thanks.

I think your question will be answered better in the engine rebuilding forum (as I assume you are either doing a top end rebuild or something similar).

There is no sealing ring between the cylinders and the heads. You use loctite 574 (or similar) anerobic sealing compound.

Buy Wayne's rebuilding book. I bet it'll answer this question and many more you don't know you have yet.

Hi,

There has never been anything published that dictates a proper up or down for these head gaskets but I know what you are talking about. If you put the "sharp" end down in the groove the "flat" side will cover the gap better. I think Rick is referring to the head to cam tower sealing as you would never use a sealant between the heads and cylinders.

there is absolutly a sealing ring between cylinders and heads...no loctite here!...must have been a mistake lol
