85 3.2 Carrera engine part description
 

Hello, new member here.

I can have this enquiry responded to via my repairer but ideally need this in a hurry so hope you can assist.

As per the attached picture, to the left of the fan my car has an extra bracket, rubber mounted to the fan housing, with a pulley and belt.

Reference numbers are:

Nippondenso part
930 1131 122 00
084100-0670
The words NO OILING also appears

I can find no other picture either in the owners manual or on google images with a 3.2 engine bay which contain this item.

The car is an Australian delivered 231bhp 1985 model.

I'm keen to know:

- what this part is?
- whether it is original fit or was added at a later date?

That is an air pump. It pumps air into the exhaust stream right behind the exhaust valve, adding air to the exhaust stream to promote more complete burning of the hydrocarbons in the exhaust. It was original on many 911's of that era, but I do not know specifically about your '83 3.2.
