removing stereo
anybody know how to remove an aftermarket stereo from an 81 911 targa?? Please let me know if you do or have a link to a site.

Is it a twin shaft or a a DIN unit?
Two knobs or square? Manufacturer?

I believe its a DIN, square and panasonic..its just comming out the paint shop, that headunit was in there when we got it

If you do not have the es to release it from the metal cage it should be sitting in, then you can go under the dash and bend the metal tabs of the cage back flat to the cage to slide the whole thing out.
A pic i needed if this does not help.

An electronics store that is still in business should have a tool kit or the right tool to remove the head unit for pretty cheap. Maybe grease a palm in an installation shop to have someone release it from the dash for you.
