Tranny drop = Engine drop so use the combined engine/tranny drop method and then disconnect the two once the combined unit is out of the car.

From memory, here's a quick how to drop engine/tranny in one piece:

1: Raise car upon stands high enough for the engine to fit under.

2: Disconnect the following: Axles from tranny, oil lines, fuel lines, electric connectors in engine compartment, ground feed to tranny, positive feed to starter, speedo sensor on tranny, throttle link, clutch link(remember to remove lever)

3: Open the gear link hatch in the floor inside car. Unscrew the rear attachment for gear linkage inside hatch. Pull the gear link forward to free it from tranny.

4: Put jack under the engine, slightly in front of the oil drain pan, and let it rest on this slightly. (Put some weight on it)

5: Unscrew the 4 bolts holding it all; 2 at the rear engine mount, 2 at the front of the tranny under the car. (Get a friend to assist in balancing the engine from this point on...)

6: Carefully balancing it ot the jack, make sure you clear the gear link from the entry in front on the way out. Also make sure nothing is left attached before dropping it to the floor.

7: Roll it all out. Put it safely on some blocks of wood, or similar.

8: Remove tranny from the engine. -You're done!

Thanks,
To be clear, you can't drop just the transmission and leave the engine in - you have to drop them both if you want to get to the transmission. The engine can be dropped by itself, leaving the trans. in the car. There's lots of engine drop posts - a search would find many of them. Here's my list for my '74 2.7. . . . YMMV.

Thanks

Appreciate all the input. I will search a bit more. The "911 Engine Removal Made Easy" tech article covers all the stuff to disconnect on a vehicle similiar to my 3.2 79SC. Many many years ago I used to drop my VW motor myself so I figured I can do this. The transmission work will be done by Supertec.

you can drop and install tranny only.

I did it

Easier to drop both unless your set up as a pro with experience doing it.
