You can get one from PCNA but the general consensus is it's a waste of money. Very inconsistent and incomplete.

Or you can fabricate one yourself from your car's data and Word....

One came with a 912E I used to own.

Basically an expensive piece of paper saying it was a black 1976 912E with a VIN. Nothing you couldn't tell by looking at the car.

For my '86 Carrera and my '86 928, both came with missing build dates. To get them corrected, I had to call PCNA Customer Care and get the build dates over the phone, and then I had to call the other PCNA number for COA and give them the build date!

When I bought my 997, the dealer ordered a COA for me. It only came with one error - it says I have a "turbo script" on the armrest, but it's actually a Carrera script. I haven't bothered to get that corrected.

The person who does the COAs doesn't know a thing about the cars and they don't review it for errors before sending it out. It's a pathetic operation.

I believe it is a good document to have, mainly if you want to know how original the car is.

It tells you the original equipment that came with the car, exterior and interior combo and colors, vin #, engine #, trany #, date of fabrication, not sure about the sticker price.

Maybe someday Porsche will get up to speed on the COA's and they come error free. For $100 I want one error free and not just corrected on the COA because I said so. Anyone can say anything and this makes the document worthless.

The funny part is in the form above whcih states:

"if you provide a legible copy of the original Monroney Label (Window Sticker), you will save $10 off the price listed"

Well now, if I had an window sticker would I need the COA? Most people get a COA because they don't have the window sticker which tells you the same thing as the COA! Doah!

Unless the rules changed recently, to enter a car in the Preservation Group at the PCA Parade Concours, a COA for your car is required.
