Hi Guys,
I just started looking for a used wiring harness for my '84 Carrera Cab. Has anyone bought a new one? What do they usually Run ($)? Every one that has one for sale has a ton of crap spliced into them, and I don't really want someone elses problems. So I thought that I should just buy a new one(if it isn't too cost prohibitive. Thanks, Ed '70 911T with 930/10 '84 Carrera Cab. |

I just replaced the 3 primary harnesses in my '78 SC:
Engine Harness $360 Tunnel Harness $340 Fuel Pump Harness $70 One thing I realized is that many dealers and parts suppliers don't have either the access or the desire to track stuff like this down. I had to buy my harnesses from 3 different companies. All 3 were in stock somewhere, but each place said "the other 2 are on backorder in Germany, so it'll take 6-8 weeks." I don't know what systems they were using to research availability, but each company had no trouble getting one of the harnesses. The Porsche dealership is completely useless. The most difficult to find harnesses were the fuel pump and tunnel harnesses. You may want to check with Parts Heaven in Hayward, California. I don't recall the guys name (Rob or Rod maybe?), but he was able to find things that my local parts supplier was unable to find, even though my local guy goes straight through Porsche NA. ------------------ Michael '78 911SC Euro |

By the way, used harness can be found pretty easily, but most of the wrecking yards want to cut the harness to get it out. I would absolutely not get a cut harness, period. I was quoted aroud $400 for a complete, used harness, but "we'll do the best we can do get it out uncut," was not reassuring enough for me to go used.
I'm not sure what you're replacing, but if you do the entire harness, it's a long and invasive job, and you certainly don't want to do it twice!! ------------------ Michael '78 911SC Euro |

Hello
I only have old german prices. Some years ago. Front unit was around 1800 $, Main unit around 700 $ Underdash wiresset around 400 $ Door wiresets around 200 $ Central lock 250 $ DME cableset ( Catalyc ) 1000 $ AC wireloom 300 $ each foglight wire 20 $ Just visit your dealer ( Pelican ? ) and look in the cataloge to find out what you need. And if you buy used be aware that the wireloom did change in the years. They look the same ( Many wires ) but have differences and not to forget the Turbo has an other main wire loom. Grüsse |
