Has anyone gotten rid of auto-heat?

As the subject says, I am trying to get rid of auto-heat and go back to manual controls in my 1984 Targa.

And yes, I tried the search function, but I could not find anything.

I have the module apart, but there seem to be an awful lot of wires underneath, unlike the previous versions.

Has anyone done this retro-fit before?

Thanks.

Here is where I am at:

My car has (had) auto heat. My 79sc has a manual lever on the right side so i just use it to adjust the heat. I don't see the lever in your picture so you might have to source one or figure out some way to use the existing arm (what the disconnected end of your rod was snapped on to) to regulate the heat.

usually the flapper boxes rust, stick and and then pull the ball end off
inside the auto heat. Make sure you check that they are not stuck. might
be nothing wrong with the elecs. in your pic.

I have a euro-spec 911 SC with auto heat - I ignore it and use the lever to adjust and flapper valve on the heater boxes.

Thanks, guys!! Mine never came with the levers, so I may just swap over the brake handle to one with the levers. I am also seeing whether or not I can install a switch for the footwell blowers.

Here's a thread on it on the 930 forum:
