window regulator swap 71 for a 66

I was reinstalling the window regulators in my 66 and noticed the splined window actuator was missing 180 degrees of it's splines. I doesn't come apart, so a replacement part fix doesn't look probable. On the outside chance, I dug out a pair of regulators from a 71 and lo and behold, the forward mounting screw holes lined up. The rear mounting holes were 3 inches further from the forward ones...but the doors had the holes for these too. I love these cars! I went ahead and trial fit the regulator...no problem. The large gear that the window crank actuates is much bigger on the 71 than the 66, but everything looks like an easy swap. Anybody had any problems with a similar swap?

Wait a minute! Are you telling me I can fit 1971 regulators in my 66? I think I might have the super early (65-66) close bolt pattern. Do you have the same thing? Any pictures inside the door?
