3.0 engine noise
I had my mechanic install a set of oil fed chain tenssioners on my engine after hearing a noise coming from the chain housing, i got a set of used tenssioners and had them installed, the noise kept on when the car was hot, we tought that one of the tenssioners was bad, so we installed a brand new set, now the noise is worst, only when the car is hot, could anybody give me a hint on how to look for the problem?
Thanks alot for your advice. Fernando |
did you put oil in them and prime them before youput them in?

have you checked your oil pressure with engine hot? and also how did the ramps / guides look.
are you sure its chain noise? i would do a manual gage oil pressure check to see what the pressure is doing when engine is warming and noise starts to sound. of course no noise is a good noise so damage is most likely accruing if its noisy, so be careful! good luck ed |

Thanks guys for your quick reply, i was at the shop this morning and my mechanic had disassembled the tenssioner that was noisy, and was kind of stuck, i think it had wax or something from packing, we pulled it of, and played with it cleaned it and it was set free and ran all the way up and down, so we set it back on the car, reassembled and fired up.
Everything was nice and quiet this time. Thanks again for the advice. Fernando |
