I picked up a few Toyo R888s from TD4L. It's just the online name for a tire shop in Illinois..

Fast shipping, good customer service, good price.

I bought 2 Toyo Proxes T1R's last year from them....I'll echo what tyro said....

and add great price, service, and roadhazard.

Thanks, Tyro did you use the R888's for a track car? and did you shave them? How did they do? I've been using the Toyo RA-1's.

Yes, used them on my 1986 944 Turbo. Did not shave them.

I was rather disappointed in the R888. I was thinking I'd get the long life of an RA1, not a chance. I attended a couple autocrosses and maybe 5 track days before the outer edge of the tire was showing cords.

The tire felt terrible, the car felt so loose it was scary. I found some R6 takeoffs and the car was immediately transformed into a track monster.

I don't recommend the R888. Perhaps others have had luck, but I thought the tire sucked a$$.
