Simpson Harness Re-Webbing??
Hello-
I just got off the phone with Simpson and they no longer re-web harnesses. They give a 30% trade in now. This means that expired harnesses cost $175 each to remedy. Does anyone here know if there is another company that will re-web and certify Simpson harnesses? |
I tried the same thing back in late fall and was told the same thing by Simpson. Called G-Force and emailed Sparco and both said they would not reweb another manufacturers product. So rather than buy from Simpson, I bought a new G-Force camlock 6 point harness for $150, knowing they will reweb down the road.
|
I just found out that Crow will re-web them for $100 including a new camlock.
Not so bad. |
Pay attention to whether harnesses are SFI rated only, or also FIA rated. The expiration interval is shorter with the SFI only ones. It's 5 years for FIA.
I paid $109 for my G-Force FIA-certified cam-lock 5-point harness -- that's not so far from the cost of re-webbing somebody else's. I used to have Simpson, and didn't like them nearly as much as the (cheaper) G-Force harnesses. |
And if you have a Crow, they will re-web your Crow harness for $50.
The guy who started Crow used to work for Simpson, didn't he? |
Thanks for the replies gents. I am still going with the Crow re-web because those G-Force cam lock harnesses have gone up to $140. Once Crow re-does my Simpsons they become Crow belts and will be cheaper to re-web the next time.
The expiration of the belts is mandated by the race organizer for what I am doing and they spec "FIA or SFI manufactured within four years of the event date." So SFI is as good as FIA for me. I'll post if anything goes wrong with Crow. |
Crow will also do whatever length you want and install whatever types of hardware you want (clip-in, bolt-in, etc.) I had them size my lap belts to a specific length to fit my seat openings and they did not mind at all. Tell them what you want and they'll do it, at minimal charge.

G-Force Camlocks are still $109.99. (Assuming Dan's Racing Supply is still in business. It might not be.) That said, I've heard good things about Crow. |

Hey KTL-
How did you do at LeMons with that BMW? We run that motorcycle powered Geo Metro. Did well at the last race. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a p-car cheap enough for LeMons but so far no luck. Are you running at Reno? |
If someone is OK with the G-Force Latch & Link belts, OG Racing has some 2008 belts left in stock for $52. Brand new belts for cheaper than rewebbing.

Have you tried Diest? In sunny CA.
