Swapping out the DME relay?
I know this is about as basic a job as it gets, but is there a link on Pelican (or anywhere else) with instructions on how to replace the DME relay?
|
Push driver seat all the way back, remove front carpets, unscrew retainer screw, unplug, replace, reverse.

While your at it, put a spare in the glove box, turn knob, door will fold forward, after putting spare in the box, just push door closed.

10 mm 1/4 drive deep socket works great

Oh, and 'tomphot', I appreciate the tip re the glovebox. However, you might want to pick up a book on how to write English properly: "While your at it . . ." should be "while you're at it." But thanks for the sarcasm in any case. |

btw - I had a friend stop by the house a couple of weeks ago - when he got in his '85 to leave, it wouldn't start. Luckily, he had a spare in the glove box, we plugged it in and off he went. |
Seriously, I don't really think any sarcasm was meant, anyway, just a sense of humor being shared. Regardless, the job is easy, you'll see when you "get in there". I know, 'cuz I done it..... :D Lar

Disconnect the battery.
The plug on mine was very tight, trying to unplug it with lots of force pulled the cover off the relay and sent my hands banging around under the seat, causing bloody knuckles and a dropped relay and relay cover. The relay has some permanently live contacts that arc nicely against whatever they hit. That way you can wonder what else is getting fried as you try to reassemble the relay under the seat while causing lots of ozone. Or, disconnect the battery and don't worry about it ... |
By an SC....problem solved....
