Hi all,
A friend and I are converting a 67 912 to a 911. We have a 69 2 litre T enigne to go in. But. 1. The oil tank I have, I think is a post 71 tank as the filler neck is connected to the tank. Is this the same size as the earlier tanks, ie will it fit under the wheel arch of a 67? The hole(s) for the filler neck and filter doesn't matter as I have to cut them out to suit. 2.Also is it possible to use the original regulator in the 912 or will I require a specific one for the new 911 alternator ? Thanks in advance for any help/advice Alan |

Hello
1.) Canīt see a problem you need to make the newer cutout. Bigger problem is the oiline to the engine. 2.) Yes/No Check if both cars have alternators. And Porsche doesnīt recomend it even not mixing up the regulators from the 911īs ( Bosch, SEV Marchial ). But theoretical it might work if the amperages are similar. Generally there are different types regulators who will not work correct if mixed up. Overcharging is one point but also you can shoot the alternator. Most car suppley shop have cross reference lists to check or cheap replacements. Grüsse Donīt forget to change the enginemounts |

Thanks for the information, I appreciate your help. I'll test the regulator I have when I have the engine running. As for the engine mounts I cut out the 912 ones yesterday and installed the 911 replacements, not a job I would like to do again for a while.
Thanks again Alan |
