Rear Wheel Hub Installation Help

I've just replaced the wheel bearing on my 1982 Porsche 911 SC, and I'm trying to get the hub re-installed. The way the hub looks now, it doesn't look like it will go far enough into the bearing to seat properly because of the ridge on the lower part of the hub. Is this part of the previous bearing, or is this how the hub must be installed? Sorry for the newbie question! Thanks!

do a search "rear wheel bearing replace". you will see that the hub in your photo still has the outer race pressed on it. you should study carefully so as not to destroy your new bearing. you have to back up the race with a spacer as you pull the hub into the race of the installed new bearing.

Use a dremel tool with a stone cutting disc and grind a slot across the piece of old race still on the hub. Be careful when getting close to the hub and just hold off a little. Once you have a slot made use a chisel on the slot with a quick hit of a hammer and it will split the race easily then it will slide right off. Hope you have the correct tool (bought or home made) or else you will destroy the bearing. DONT FORGET TO INSTALL THE PARKING BRAKE BACKING BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE HUB OR ELSE YOU'LL BE BUYING ANOTHER BEARING AND STARTING OVER AGAIN.
