engine yoke VS adapter ring i think i am going to go ahead an bite the bullet and buy one or the other. i have an engine stand already, so my question or concern is, will the yoke fit the engine stand? or should i save a few $$ and go with the adapter ring? does the ring hold the same weight as the yoke? i want to oder today so maybe i will have it by the weekend |

Buy the yoke, it will fit almost any stand. |

Adapter ring worked fine for me rebuilding a 3.0. It holds the weight of the engine in exactly the same way as the yoke. Very little mods needed to make the adapter fit a standard engine stand with 4 claws. Yoke has the advantage of having enough room for working on the clutch/flywheel but I didn't find that a real problem with the ring; I just fitted the clutch later with the engine on the ground. |

Yoke is almost the same price as the adapter I got the yoke and it works great. |

The biggest benefit to having a ring that I found was I could get a cheap (not a single leg but double!) stand from HF and be assured it would fit. If you get the yoke I am not sure it will fit every engine stand. Get someone here to measure it... its not a universal standard is it? -Michael |

A friend of mine bought the adapter ring and it works just fine. The fixture has a 60mm yoke, so make sure your engine stand will work if you go that route. |

thanks glenn, and the rest too. the ring is 150 and the yoke is 200. the 60mm was what i needed to i guess. i have the single leg stand from HF. i think the yoke came down, they were 250 at one time |

Something to consider: When the engine is mounted, the whole set-up becomes very top-heavy, so, it's important to go with a stand that has 4 wheels, not 3. Oil the wheels for easy movement around the floor and oil the yoke-shaft for easy turning. Yoke or ring, make sure that you can lock positions meaning: you may have to drill additional holes into the shaft for the lock-bolt. For extra safety, I welded a short piece of square tube at 45deg onto the bottom of the single leg stand. |

Sorry about my yoke Ty. The engine is on it now. Expected a quick turnaround but... Every one of the dilivar head studs is broken. Plans were to replace the headstuds anyway but seeing all of them broken made everyone step back and scratch their heads. |

+1 for the yoke, it's provides more clearance for you to get the flywheel on/off with the engine on the stand. It's almost impossible with most ring/stock stand combos. Of course, if you do your flywheel-area stuff with the engine off of the stand, no problem. |

i used the adapter and rebuilt the engine stand brackets with some scrap steel. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1236193753.jpg |
