Awful fast for Zero mph.. Speedometer Lag
Hi Folk,
Went to leave the gas station this AM and noticed a friendly police officer traveling the other way. I looked down and low and behold I was doing "0".. Which was a bit of suprise considering the exerted gforces. Out of pure disbelief I tapped the gauge and it sprung to the proper speed. At each stoplight same thing ..hummm Before I go pulling things out any suggestions? 1983 911 Targa stock. |
Loose connector either behind the speedo or inside. The 911 Carrera uses spade connector. Chances are there is something loose inside. It could also be a stuck needle. Both require opening the speedo. And this is something that is better left to the pro since you have to undo the bezel.
I would talk to North Hollywood Speedp. They seem to be highly regarded. Kevin took care of my 964 speedo and was great to work with. Ingo |
Mine does this... Have to 'thump' it with my finger anytime I start from a stop.
Been too lazy to pull it and send it to No Hollywood for a rebuild... |
Mine did this and I sort of repositioned it in the opening and it fixed it. Maybe it bound up in the hole? I'm not sure but it hasn't done it since.

Hardly requires a "pro" to undo the bezel...

Mine does this as well... have to get to 60 to get it to indicate on its own... It was rebuilt by Hollywood Speedo a few years ago for a broken trip gear... *shrug*

Than you all,
I will pull and futz with it, then send it out to North Hollywood if it's not just something loose. Great stuff! Akira28 ************ 1983 911SC Targa 3.0 1984 944 NA Barn Swallow (ie been swallowed by the barn while I was overseas and mice ate all the hoses). LOL |
