I'm about to hone my 2.7L Nikisil cylinder's and noticed on one had a slight groove that you can feel with your fingernail. It's not deep, but you can feel it. should I be concerned or will honing take it out?

Typically, you don't/can't hone cylinders to remove deep grooves and other damage, especially in hard surfaced (Nikasil) cylinders.
There are specialty shops that can repair these cylinders. Try: http://www.lasleeveco.com/ for more info. ------------------ Doug '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA members.home.net/zielke/911SC.htm |

you can either wet hone them with a brush style hone, scuff them with a scotchbrite pad, or leave them alone. i've done it all those ways, and have seen no difference. they need to be checked for roundness with a dial bore gauge. oval cylinders don't seat rings no matter how well you hone them. as for the scratch, if there's only one, it won't pass enough oil to make any difference.

Maybe I'm being anal aout the scratch's. You can't feel it by rubing your finger over it, only with your fingernail.
