rebuilding 996 calipers. Tell me it is quick and easy

rebuilding 996 calipers. Tell me it is quick and easy. Honestly.

996 brakes. I need them again. Tire store yesterday and RR pads are most worn of all my pads. I R&R all brake pads last year/ The rotors must be replaced this next brake job. Starting to question if rotor RR caused more wear RR or caliper RR is sticking. Have you guys been rebuilding 996 calipers very easily? I just did new brakes on 911 so don't want to do brakes for at least a few days though

Regards,

Is the car pulling to either side when you brake? When you raised the front of the car off the ground do the wheels spin freely or are they dragging?

If you answer no to both questions you don't need to rebuild the calipers. Maybe you are riding the brake? Do you do jack rabbit starts and stops?

jack rabbit. Yep. Pulling none. I need four rotors and new new pads and at least one sensor. Calipers not sticking that i can see, but I haven't worked on the car in a while. it even needs an oil change soon.

Yes, easy. I thought I put a post on this last night, but I think I rebooted my machine before sending...

The trouble is finding the inner seals - those are not easily available, and need to be special ordered from Brembo...

I have a friend who has all new teeth because he shot a caliper apart with compressed air. Cover witha shop rag and your hand, or invert.

+1
I use a wood wedge. For the one piston, which will inevitably stay in while the other's pop out, I use C clamps for the loose ones to keep them slightly in while the air works on the stuck one.

Once using c clamps or channel locks they were all easily worked back in (and out and in) with my fingers easily. They are all free. Calipers not as clean this time as when I last installed them (but with the wheels on they look new).

Wayne, thanks for the Textars.
