Any feedback regarding the "new" Webers?

I keep getting asked about the "new" Webers being made in Spain. I've heard a few comments but typically you hear the negative stories over the good ones so I do not really know what the general consensus regarding these new Webers is.

Any first hand info would be nice to know.

I ordered a set from Spain manufactured in June 2021 so about 6 weeks old.

I double checked the float heights that were spot on out of the box, bolted them on my '67S engine and they work.

They came set up with 55 idle, 135 main, 180 air correction, 30mm venturi and F26 emulsion tubes.

They were easy to tune just switched to 53 idle jets, balanced them then got my length of garden hose to set the idle mixture on each cylinder and found they are very responsive to adjustments. Out for a drive no flat spots through the rev range and a solid idle at 950 rpm.

I have put the original Italian Weber's in a box, so they can stay with the car. Maybe an extensive rebuild one day.

For what it is worth they work fine for me and what I use the car for.

I am in Australia, and anything mailed from USA is pretty random, super expensive and a lot of sellers will not ship to Australia. Last parts I ordered from Florida ended up being left on a door step in San Francisco, USPS response was 'delivery complete, no one home left on doorstep'. Webers were delivered from Spain in 9 days. The PMO's were about 3,000 South Pacific doblydos more expensive and delivery was sort of maybe some day.

I can't complain about them, they work.

Hi John, I got them from my local Weber dealer. Recarb sunshine coast. I have seen them for sale online, no one has them in stock on the shelf, I just had to wait for the next run which luckily was planned or the week after I ordered them.

Can you explain what you mean by using a garden hose to set idle mixture? Sounds like a trick worth learning.

By the way, your immaculate engine compartment is amazingly lovely.

I will let the master explain. But, with a length of hose you can listen to each trumpet, lean will pop, rich will hiss and you get a nice thump when just right.

Just need to go round and round till they all sound the same.

I really hope someone buys PMO. Wonder why Pelican is not carrying the product anymore?

I fitted some of the new Weber’s to a customers 72T, ordered from the place in the uk. One of the floats was cracked and sinking. The harder fault to find was that one bank had the idle mixture screw seats machined too deep. I wasn’t able to get the mixture lean enough without taking off the springs and swapping them with something shorter. If international shipping wasn’t such an issue at the moment I probably would have sent it back.
It is great we can order new ones, QC maybe lacking slightly.

I would speak with 1QuickS here about having them refurbished, as your car looks pretty special and OEM is OEM...
