bearings

my poly bronze front bearings came in today, (taking off the new hard plastic ones) started to read threads so as not to run into anything unforeseeable, and noticed that elephant sells the new and improved outer shell that the bearing presses into. are they necessary? can i use my old ones? thanks, don

You can use the old ones if you are sure the body mounts are good. The kit helps align the front and rear bushings due to damage of the body or imperfections when the car was built. I put them in as insurance. Based on what I've seen and read most people do the same.

when to use is addressed in the Elph. pdf sheet on website

in essence - can try w/o and see if that works if you don't mind delays (say, if you do need them)

can buy if you are relatively price-insensitive w.r.to delay issues

if pan repaired/replaced; care ever crashed ---> likely needed

be SURE to inspect the crevices in the front body reinforced mounting area -- it is a rust trap -- see my yet another boring Rguppe car thread for pics.

Good Luck

car has never even had a fender bender, and was recently stripped and media blasted, will try the old ones first. 200.00 bucks?
