Best way to support rear of car for removing spring plates?

Sould i set the jackstands under the torsion bar tube (inboard of the seam) or at the rear corners of the tub?

I'm just starting into a major suspension project, removing my spring plates in the process.

I don't think you can remove the spring plates with a jack stand on the torsion bar tube.

If you do a search for "lift points" you will come up with a bunch of info on lifting and putting your car on jack stands.

This will probably get me flamed, but I raised the car in the normal manner, then placed a broad (4" plus) wide timber board that runs the full-width of the car just behind the firewall I supported the beam each side with bricks stacked 2x2 to the required height (about 4 bricks). The timber board spreads the load so that you don't dent the underbody. Has worked fine for me.

When I refreshed my suspension I supported the rear with jack stands on the torsion bar tubes. That way they were out of the way when I pulled the springplates.
