cold start valve

i have a 77 911 with a 2.7 engine, i am changing the exhaust gasket right now and i notice while i was under the car that the starter has a spade terminal that has no wire on it. I read that the cold start valve gets its power from the yellow wire on the starter. My question is how many wires are suppose to be on the starter, i have 2 wires on the large terminal and one wire on the other spade terminal which should be for the ignition switch to energize the starter , so does this wire also send power to the cold start valve? Thanks for any help

Patrick,

As you said, your car is a '77 and has a 2-terminal starter. That is the normal wiring set-up for your car. Don't worry about the 2nd. yellow empty spade. Your CSV (cold start valve) gets power from the same terminal at the 14-pin connector @#1.

The later models (SC's) do get power for the CSV @ terminal #16 (starter). What you read is correct but not applicable to your '77 wiring configuration (unless with was altered). HTH.

Tony
