Turn signal/ hazzard flasher issue
Maybe someone has had this issue. The other day I fired up my car [78 SC]and took it for a spin and noticed that the turn signals were not operating. No big deal, I figured the turn signal relay had finally gone south...guess they only last 30 yrs. So today before I placed an order for a new one I went out to the car and tested it again. I found that with the ignition switch in the run position the turn signals and hazards work fine. If I start the engine the hazards and the turn signals hang and do not work or flash very slowly. Any thoughts on this?

We drive Porsches so we don't need to use turn signals :)

Ron,
1. Do you have the Bentley service manual for your car? 2. The power to most relays in the car comes from the ignition switch. The switch has as many as three positions it can be in to supply power. ACC, Run, Start. With the problem you describe, it sounds like it could be a bad feed from the ignition switch. Gordon |
My golden rule
When I mess about with electrics I always clean all electrical connections involved. I am amazed at how many times this cures the problem.
Worst case, you use a little time and have nice clean connections for the new unit. JR |
