Emblem removal?

Gents, I just purchased a new engine deck lid emblem, the black Carrera adhesive type from our host. Can anyone advised how to safely remove the old one without damage to the deck lid? Any tips would be helpful, thanks Lenny

A hair dryer to soften, dental floss to saw adhesive gently, adhesive remover like goo gone to clean up, clean the lid with soap/water, apply a polish or glaze, wax.

m110, the dental floss sounds like a great idea, I was thinking of a plastic putty knife but I like the floss idea better. Thanks.

Nice! Just two days ago I used dental floss on mine, worked like a charm! Much of the glue was already separated on mine, but a couple of the spots were REALLY tough still, just keep sawing.
I think you've answered a question of mine in return, is the 'Carrera' emblem that's sold through our host, the one that's listed specifically for our years, about $25, does it have the adhesive backing? The later years lists as having the adhesive, ours does not specify. Can you confirm?

The one I ordered was $25. but I did not receive it yet but I do hope it is self adhesive, the other one, like you had mentioned states it is self adhesive but not the correct year and size.

I took mine off a couple of days ago preparing for a repaint. I just used a metal putty knife and went slow. No scratching of the paint, not that it really matters in my case.

Did the emblem arrive? Does it have the adhesive on it?

Gents the emblem did arrive and Yes it was self adhesive, removed the old one with the help of everyones advise, came off with a lot of time and elbow grease. Put the new one on and it looks great, you really can see the difference once it is done. Again, Thanks , Lenny.
