cylinder&head corrosion

the tops of the cylinders and heads on my 2.4 served as the platform for a squirrel and mouse nest. The tops of and the gaps between all the fins became encrusted with a white cement like substance. This may have been a chemical reaction to the rodent urine. I have scraped most of it off and the air passages are clear. Question 1; is there a cleaner or a remover out there? Question 2; will the thin residue thats left interfere with heat transfer to the blower air going by?
