Passing Pelican Acknowledgment

How many of us have passed a random p-car on the road, and wondered if we may know them from the forum...?

I may be the oddball here, but I passed 2 p-cars the other day on the way home from my FLAPS on M-59, and exchanged waves in passing. Today, I was in Loveland, OH (Just north of Cinci) and passed another, and I always wonder if they are someone that is active here in the forum. ~I was in my work van today, so more than likely went Completely unnoticed when I waved on the way by~

I almost want to get one of the big foam fingers from a sports event and get the pelican logo put onto it to hang out the window when I pass a fellow p-car owner... SmileWavy

Would be nice to have a specific hand signal to acknowledge fellow pelicans, but without using 2 wild @ss hands trying to look like some offshoot bird, I don't see it to be an easy feat... :) (Not to mention people looking at you like a Complete fool if they have no idea what your doing...) :p

Someone please confirm I am not alone on this... :D

All Pelicans are required to have these in order to be identified on the road:

Well...there's the secret handshake too, but that's pretty hard to accomplish while passing in traffic.

I've probably done tougher on the bike, but not sure I could slow down enough to master it in the car. :D

I think Pelican every time I see a P-car. Like you, I can't help but think the other person MUST be a Pelican. How else can you drive these cars without knowing Pelican?

I'm not one to put stickers on my vehicles...ever. Although I do have an old faded Pelican Parts sticker on the rear widow of my truck's canopy.

Ha! same here! But unfortunately there are still P-car owners that have not seen the light! We must educate those who are Pelicanisticaly challenged. (hey, I just invented a new word, lol)

I saw a white SC heading towards Reno from Sac last year. I was in the left lane doing 80 towards Davis. The guy came up fast from behind and waved. Judging by the shape of the car he must have been a Pelican.

Am I the only one that thought this was going to be a funeral announcement regarding the passing of a Pelican?

Then wondered if you've ever pissed them off?

I think there is already a hand signal--take a look at the logo. A clenched fist with an extended pinky finger!

Hey, if it's good enough for the bird, it's good enough for us! Think of it as a new way to "flip the bird" to your fellow Pelicans:D

You're not alone! I did the same thing.

Best.

ossiblue is right on the money. The clenched fist with extended pinky (ala the Pelican character) would be perfect!

A directive and possible sticky post from our leader (Wayne) may be in order if the Pelican wave is going to "fly".;)

We need the pelican figure built into a ring . You put the ring on your finger and when ever you see another Porsche you just flip them the bird.

This is an awsome site and Porsche Peeps are the greatest. I think we need to proceed with the Pelican hand signal!

There may be a small flaw in my idea.

We need an official wave, but I think it should be something that Wayne approves. I dont know how the rest of you feel, but I feel offended when a brother Porsche driver doesnt wave back. I think owning a 911 is like being a part of a kinship or a brotherhood. I live in a big subdivision and I had someone in a newer 911 pull out of his neighborhood, I waved and he looked away and hammered the gas as if trying to impress me. I thought, "nice car, rude driver".

BROTHERS UNITE!
