Newbie - specs on lowering
 

Dreaming of a Porsche for 30 years owning one for 3 months - 82SC. Just wondering about specs on lowering. My car seems pretty low and has 50 series tires. Does anyone have measurements I can compare to my car?

From that angle the height and the rake looks right. The front has room for a spoiler. I believe the measurements you are shooting for is 24.5" rear and 25.5" front. This measurement is from the earths surface to the top of the wheel opening.

Looks like you have 16X7 wheels with 225/50 tires.

Take measurements of all four heights and see what you come up with.

You have a nice looking car. I have 83sc and it had been euro spec lowered before I bought it. I have been told by a service tech that you really don't want to go lower than that. Also, I believe it would have a real harsh ride too. Have fun driving your P-car, there is nothing like them..

I've done a lot of searching over the past week or so on this subject. Euro ride height is 25" at rear and 25.5 at front as best I can determine. Your car looks a touch low at the rear (maybe 0.5"), which probably can be adjusted using the spring plate adjuxtment bolts.

Seems that at the very leats there should be a half in difference front to rear, front being higher. Measure the height from ground through wheel centre to guard. Conversley there should be 108mm (+/- 5mm) between torsion bar centre and wheel centre at front and 12mm (+/- 5mm) at rear.

I just rebuilt my rear suspension. My first shot saw 25.25" at rear (although this still may settle slightly) - close enough for me :D!

The Euro height of 25R and 25.5F are based on tires that are 25" diameter. I like to follow the same principle, regardless of tire size. My tires are 24" diameter (205/50/16) so my rear ht is 24" and the front 24.75". I like a little less rake. If you have 225/50/16, that would give you 24 7/8"R, w/ the fronts 1/2 to 3/4 higher. Based solely on that pic, your ride height looks good to me.

Is the color on the car "Velvet Red Metallic" or "Arena Red Metallic" ?? Looks great!

Thanks for all the great info. Just got a foot of snow here in Montana so I needed a good garage project. Color of the car is Red Wine Metalic.
