Emblem adhesive ?

Gents, I purchased a new Carrera emblem for my engine lid from our host. The one for my 87 Targa did not advised if it was self adhesive or not. When I receive it and it is not self adhesive, what type of adhesive would you recommend? Thanks Lenny.

You need to go to an auto parts store and get some 3M double sided tape.

Kurt, but that would mean a lot of cutting around the script, I am not that steady.

I believe it would envolve some cutting, yes.
Shouldn't be that hard though.

Do you think it would be better then the yellow or black 3m adhesive in a tube?

I've had good luck with a clear silicon sealant.
Doesn't damage the paint and you can wipe off any excess with a couple of toothpicks while it is setting up (recommend 24 hours).
Leave the lid open and let gravity do its thing while it is setting up.

Bill, that sounds like a good idea, I believe the clear would do a better job. Thanks guys but I am still hopeful the emblem is self adhesive!

Get GE silicon 2 for outdoor uses. They are excellent silicon.

Unless I'm missing something, if its a new Carrera emblem you've purchased, it will be self adhesive.

Every new one I've ever bought has been.

If the emblem isn't self adhesive (and I think it is) you can apply the SA material to the back, keep a backer sheet behind it, and use the edge of the emblem itself as a guide to run a sharp X-Acto type knife around it.

Thanks guys, like I mentioned I hope it is self adhesive but when I ordered it, for my year, it did not say in any of the notes or description but either way I work with it. I got some good ideas from all. Lenny
