Boulder, Lafayette CO- Need some advise
Hey guys,
Need some advise and help as I am ready to tackle some projects for my 911. First, any mechs or experice Porsche people who come and do work at the owners house locally? I saw this on other threads where there was a traveling 911 Mech. Would be happy with someone here as well. Any local popular tool shops and lift advise. I prefer to buy locally than mail order since I don't like dealing with issues over the phone. Would prefer a scissor style lift, more compact but would love something that could carry at least 4 tons, have a Cayenne as well. I need someone locally to look over the car as I feel it deserves it (87 911). It's been sitting in my garage for 1 year and I have no time to take a peak at some of the issues or get sound advise. I did take the car in to our local dealer but nothing was done, they said all was good... Most the dealers seem more 964+ friendly unless you already know what you want done. Anyway, if there are any locals who would be interested to even stop by PM me, would be happy to meet up and have someone know the ins and outs of these cars take a look. Afternoons are best since my wife gets home by then and can watch the kids. I would love to take the car to Denver but there is no way I can get back, I work from home and take care of my kids through the day. If the car needed major engine work I justify the move. Any local garages in Boulder that some of you like or more or less trust? Let me know! Thanks, Andre |
While I do not want to speak on his behalf, Grady Clay is in Denver, and a member of this board. If anyone in Colorado knows Porsche, it's Grady and he can probably make a great recommendation.
Edit: just did a search and there is a very comprehensive list of mechanics Grady posted here; http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/202952-looking-good-independent-denver.html |
All the shops that Grady lists in that thread are kind of a haul from where the car is located, though they are all good recommendations. Only correction I would make is Steve Rowe has left 3R since that was put together and has his own shop in Lakewood these days.
Call Randy Russell at Boulder Autowerks. 303-413-0118 He's on Arapahoe on the east edge of Boulder. I don't know if he does house calls, but he's the kind of stand up guy who might do such a thing. Or he might send his son, Kyle down to you on his behalf. It's a father and son business. Just the two of them there. It's where I take my cars when it's something I can't or don't feel like doing myself. Feel free to PM me if you if you want to talk about more details regarding your car. I would consider coming to look it over if I knew more about what your concerns are. All my business does is Porsche transaxles, but I used to service write at a more full service shop, do the majority of my own work, and I've taken a few stored cars out of mothballs over the years. |
Hey, I'm in Lafayette too. Carquip is at Arapahoe and 75th (well, between 75th and 63rd), and while I haven't used them, they have a good rep and they seemed to have a cool shop (I stopped by for a visit). PM me, I can swing by too.

Vipergrün, thanks for the info, I think that list is old but still useable. I know Stammler is gone, I also think Dave left from Prestige and went to Boulder??
Will save the link! Matt and Troy, I will send off the PM's tomorrow. I am located in the Indian Peaks area, right after the beautiful train tracks on Baseline. I'll send you guys my address and info, it'll be welcoming to have some Porsche enthusiasts to meet up with and discuss. Thanks again, we'll talk in the morning! Andre |
