Tire Shop put lift in wrong spot - How can I fix the damage
Tire shop didn't lift the car at the specific jack points and pushed my rear seat floor pans in on both sides. How can I flatten these out again?

To others: heed this! Do not ever assume a tire shop knows how to lift a 911. Take your jackpad lift with you when you go, and supervise the procedure with a floorjack if you're not comfortable with pointing out lift spots. I think a floorjack is better suited at a tire shop. If they won't let you do this, go to another shop.

If it isn't too bad, just use a rubber mallet. A few good hits with that and it'll be fine.

Man that sucks! I always tell them where to lift mine or the put it on a lift that you drive onto then the whole thing goes up. You should get them to fix it or reimburse you for the damage when you fix it. Good luck.

Hopefully they did not crush the oil cooler lines too in the process of guessing where to lift the car .... I second chkbookmechanic, nice large rubber malet will do the trick

Use a block of sturdy wood and a hammer. I nice piece of pine is good. Don't use a dark hardwood.
Rubber mallet is good but I like using the block because you can't miss. |

sand/ease the edges of the wood to prevent creases. or cover in carpet. I've pounded out many-a-floor this way. rubber mallet is good, but a plastic faced deadblow is better.

I always drop off the wheels and tires and pick them up later.

To avoid the lifting fiascos, the impact wrenches they might use, and monkey wrench wheel rash, I do the same except I always stay and watch. My thinking is that they'll simply be more careful mounting/dismounting from the wheel if you're there imo and I've never been disappointed. I remember one time, the "tire tech" was having a heck of a time getting the last tire balanced, and after two attempts he finally asked the manager for advice. He came out, and with some effort got it to balance perfectly. I'd bet that it would have been "good enough" the first attempt if I hadn't been standing there

I would never let anyone but a trusted Porsche mechanic put my car on a shop lift.

I'm so glad I have a great tire shop to work with. I hear all the horor stories about these kinds of things and have always been afraid of hacks out there that get paid minimum wage to change tires.
For all those that suggested beating with a rubber hammer- what about the cracked insulation material on the floor inside the car? Any time I've seen a 911 lifted under the floorboards, the material inside cracks and chips away exposing the metal underneath, and sacrificing some bit of sound deadening. Redstormcoach- please tell us that the shop fessed up to their stupidity and offered to make it right for you. If not, take the car to a reputable body shop that knows 911's and get an estimate for them to repair the shop's damage.
