Front Torsion Bar Screws

Can anybody post a pic of the new style adjusting screws for the front torsion bars?

These are the ones with the plastic collar on them.

Thanks!

Plastic collar? I have an 88, which should be close to the latest 911 that has front torsion bar adjusting screws, and there is no plastic collar on mine. Just an M10 (or is it M12?) bolt with an 11mm hex head and a rounded tip.

hmmm - there is an old post by Grady that says the plastic collar is there on the newer style to prevent the bolt from turning on hard bumps/corners when it is unloaded...

With 19mm torsion bars and reasonable ride height (that would be my setup), the rebound stop in the shock/strut will stop suspension travel before the torsion bar is unloaded. Of course, a lowered car with 23mm front bars may go the other way.

I marked mine with a dot of yellow paint, and they have never moved on their own.

The pair I bought last year just had some blue paste like stuff to prevent unthreading, sort of like nylock material but more pasty if that makes sense.

this is regarding track type cars with stiff suspensions. one wheel often comes off the ground on certain corners, and that removes the adj. screw from the steel stop on the Xbar

that blue stuff is a type of thread locker -- pretty sure Grady meant something else...

I re-installed the original ones -- if I have problems (unlikely) then I can always drill & safety wire them so they won't turn.

Even if one wheel comes off the ground, the torsion bar may still be loaded. Pretty simple to check - after you adjust your front height, jack up one side until the wheel is off the ground, and see if the adjuster has slop in it or not.
