opinions on ride height plus gratuitous pic
Please give opinions on the ride height- too low?, just right?
Also what are your ride heights- to compare - with pics if poss. I seem to remember figures like 24.5" - 25" to top of wheel arch/fender as average- but could be wrong. Geometry has not yet been set so now is the time for me to decide. Once car is complete I will post some more pics and details. Many thanks Ben ![]() ![]() ![]()

Beautiful car.
My vote is too low, especially in the rear. Should be 1/2-1 negative degrees rake.

The wheel well measurement is usually a ballpark setting and is effected by ride height setting and tire/wheel diameter.
The true ride height is the measurement between the torsion bar and wheel centers. Even if those measurements are achived your corner balance numbers might not agree, they are a compromise. Here's my '71 with 185/70x15's. 25.5" & 25" front/rear. Corner weights LF 550, RF 550, LR 766, RR 704 loaded with my weight and 15 gallons of fuel. ![]() |

Looks to low in the back especially.
The fender lip out back should not be below the top of the tire for the most part if eye-balled from the tire height. I would do some research on tires. With the 15x6's choices are getting limminted. If you can stay close to 24.5 to 25" tall tires the Euro Style height of about 25.5f & 25"r to fender height is good with stock springs. Lower than that brings issues like bump steer in the front and potently bottoming that can create dramatic and dangerous handling dynamics. If you end up with a tire much shorter than 25" you could deduct half of the tire diameter difference from the 25.5"f 25"r and try to get to that. Example, 23.5" tire then 24.75f and 24.25r is ok from a geometry point of view but might leave you with less than 4" of ground clearance. Stiffer springs lets you go lower than euro but front bump steer can still pop up. Again, I would start with your the tire size you are going to use in the future. |

Thanks
I have currently requested to raise both ends by 20mm or about 3/4 inch. I do not want it too high but believe it may drop abit over time as she is on new shocks. Tires are 185/70/15's i believe as they are period correct tires on 15" deep 6's. She looked low in person and seems to look lower in the pics although some of that may be due to shadow. Camber and castor have not yet been set. Regards Ben
