Getty Design Fiberglass Duck-Tail
I have been looking to purchase a duck-tail on Ebay - Would anyone have any advice or thoughts on the brand "Getty Design"? Good - Bad?
Also, the underside of the GD tail does NOT have the bracket(s) to attach the AC condenser to - are these sold via Pelican Parts?? If not, any thoughts on what type of metal should be used to create something like this? Thanks for anyone who might be able to assist. Kind Regards - L Hunt |

I don't know anything about the ducktail specifically, but Getty Design in general has a reputation as among the best, if not the best, fiberglass and carbon-fiber aftermarket suppliers, in terms of fit, finish and quality. I have a GD IROC-style front bumper/airdam and rear bumper on my car.

My condensor mounted directly to the lid if I remember correctly. I am out of town on business....and do not have access to my car, however My Ducktail came from Rennspeed. I liked the contours better than the Getty Design that was available at the time which had the wrong side profile. I am not sure if that has been corrected or not. No matter what anybody says, no fiberglass part, that I know of, can be installed with no amount of fit and finish work.

I will second that Getty makes great parts. As a matter of fact a good number of retailers source from them.
Gary Stratton also makes a ducktail using a stock decklid with glass bonded to it. If you must have AC, you might consider that part. It's probably $800 for it. If you think you can fabricate something onto the Getty tail for the cost difference, get the Getty part. |

Sorry, Stormmaster, but I had zero problems mounting my Getty Design bumpers and air dam. Had to drill some holes, but that's standard and I don't consider that "fit and finish work."

I've got Getty bumpers and deck lid that just went on my Carrera last week. A local body shop did them for me, and none of the pieces required working them. The decklid went on quick and the gaps were perfect. The bumpers went on with no working of the fiberglass at all. If I had known it would be that easy I could have done it myself.
The owner said Getty Design is the best you can get. |
