Source for shims (Distributor) & Dizzy pRon
 

I suppose enough people have replaced bad fiber-shims that someone has tracked down a good place to get properly sized shims? In return: Some awesome pics of my distributor; not bad for 20 years of service. A shame I don't have any pics of it before but, rest assured, it looked as bad as any of them. I wonder is there a market for this work? I'd rather do this than the work-study program. :)

I went to one of the indy Porsche shops here and just got their "distributor kit" I wanted to order from Pelican but I needed to be able to put it next to my dist. shaft and make sure it's the right part. It does not appear to be for any particular model but it came with an assortment of shims and parts so I just used what I needed.
I would assume you can just order the same kit from our host and you'll have whatever you need.
BTW, this was for my '88 3.2 so it would work for you as well. One thing I could never figure out what why Porsche used fiber washers in addition to the metal washers. All the other posters I saw here just ended up going with all metal, which is was I did, but I still wonder why Porsche felt compelled to use a fiber washer.

McMasters have SS high heat ones. The biotch is the inner snap in plastic bearing. Impossible to find. If damaged, time for a new old one that has no play.

To test inner bearing, tilt it on a 45 degree angle then spin, if she buzzes she is a goner.
