Humbling I tell ya......Damn Humbling.

Ok I post this so you all can learn from my stupidy!

Since I bought my car I have had the classic turn signal problem.....you know the one where it flashes all nice for 2-3 blinks then dims and both arrows start flashing in the gauge. So I searched and searched.....turns out this is a pretty common problem. So I have a list of things to tackle to try.....

Oh and at some point somewhat recently all flashing went out.....including my hazards, which is what prompted this idiotic need to have signals.....

First seemd like a grounding issue.....so I pull apart all four turn signal housings and clean all wires and connections.....no change. Ok. Add some ground wires....still no change. In fact still have no signals at all. Ok grounds to the flasher relay(notice I am trying all the free stuff first!). So hours under my dash and lookig at wiring diagrams and still no idea where the problem could be.

Flasher relay of course-----$50 from our host!(No offence wayne). Hmmmm, ok generic relay.....NOPE, NADA, NOTHING!

Dammit looks like its down to the turn signal stalk.....

Well I knowhat your saying....seems simple, methodical, easiest to hardest...right......WRONG.

So I am sitting in my trunk and I kick the fuse pannel by accident.....click...click....nothing! HARK!

Turns out the turn signal fuses were good but making bad connections. Tightned and cleaned them and VOLIA! Perfect flashers and turn indicators......

So people please....check your fuses more closley than just to see if they are intact.......cause they can cause you a heap of a mess. Just wanted to share my experience to maybe save the next guy days tracking down a seemingly huge problem.

Great advise!
I fixed a blower motor problem by doing the same thing.
I then went ahead and cleaned both fuse boxes and replaced all the fuses for good measure - some of the old fuses were a little corroded on the ends.

+1 fixed my blower motor's sporadic issues as well - a thorough refreshing is in the project plans for this year.

You mean every time you have the hood open you don't give the fuses nice spin? tsk tsk

Most electrical problems are caused by a bad connection. The problem is finding that connection. Glad to hear you found yours. And the big plus? You have a spare relay! This means the one you have will remain good, because you never need a spare part that you have with you!

Funny thing is I always spin my fuses.....somehow I spun it without the hazards or turn signals on. So it would go right back to its poor state as soon as a load was applied. Too funny!

I think I read on this forum--
" If you cant fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem!"
