Removed this part: CAN'T remember where it goes back!
Dudes. Dudettes.
I removed this part for powdercoating along with a whole mess of other things. Time has come to put it back and I can't remember where it goes, and I don't see it in any of my pictures. Any ideas? Oil line bracket, or something? Please help! Thanks!SmileWavy http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238111247.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238111258.jpg |

Don't mean to beat a dead horse here, but this reminds me of those PCA meetings where someone brings in a "mystery" part and we have to guess what it's for.
One time, it was just something someone picked-up in the parking lot. Too funny. Of course, so were the responses. |
That's what holds the muffler bearings in place on a 74 RSR and is made of unobtanium. Priceless piece you have there. Wanna sell it?
LOL. I really have no clue. |

This is exactly what I was saying!! ROFLMAO |
..maybe part of an aftermarket battery conversion bracket?
it looks aftermarket whatever it is. |
I grew up with formica counter tops with that same gold fleck pattern....
|
Maybe it's my Johnson Rod spacer. Or the bracket for my turbonator.
|
Attempt to put the car back together and if you don't find a use for it.. you don't need it. :)
|
It's a piston return spring clamp. It goes between the muffler bearing and the left handed smoke screen.
If your car is burning gas on the right side, you need to mount it on the right. If your car is burning gas on the left side, you need to mount it on the left. Or vice versa. It is a pretty simple application, depending on what side of your car is burning the most gas. Just remove the door handle and spot weld the return spring onto that side. It's magnetic and the springs will sense that. Don't weld it too close to the springs. Not only are they sensitive, but a piston return spring magnet welded too close to the piston will look stupid. You don't want that. |
Come on guy's, that is a guzinta valve bracket, everyone knows that.
|
OMG! Now, I remember...better send that back to MM for the rebuild.
|
That's the fetzer valve bracket. Prep that with some 3-in-1 oil and gauze pads.... it's all ball bearings nowadays...

I like it when someone tosses in an xtra part, Kind of like my Brother putting in one xtra thru bolt O-ring during an engine build!!
|
Any chance at this point you might ask the powder painter if one his customers is missing a part? He probably wouldn't admit to it anyway...

However, I can't find it in PET or anything. AND, I wouldn't put it past the PO to have done some ghetto-engineering and found this somewhere else. The bracket that holds the CIS up from the throttle relay plate had, instead of a rubber stud-spacer, a lug nut and a bunch of duct tape, for example. |
Aaaah, the plot thickens...

You're the beta-tester for the all new "tax bracket"...Just spear all of those loose dollars every time you get one and just send 'em in...(they knew you were such a thoughtful, trustworthy young lad so they sent you one first)!:D

C'mon guys, quit screwing this guy around - he posted a legitimate question.
This is the hold down clamp for a DIY oil filter using a coffee can and a roll of toilet paper. Sorry to hijack but are we all still of the concensus that Purex 4 ply is gives the best filtration? |
Man I am so happy this went the Fletch way rather than some sort of Star Wars way with people discussing the milenium falcons (had to look that up) and all that other stuff.
P.S. my handle is named after Rodney Dangerfield's boat in Caddyshack, Seafood. Also named my 40 sportfisher the same thing! TYhanks for making me laugh on a crappy Friday at work. Anyway, sorry I am not any help with the part, I have never seen that on any of my cars but does not say that it doesnt belong there. |
whatever it is - it will add weight - toss it.
|
Bracket that holds the blower motor?
Honestly I have no idea b/c I removed that stuff when I backdated the heating system. |

What are you doin' up there some stunt flying or something? sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread, just my all time favorite movie. thanks for the laugh today. |
I just looked in my engine compartment, I don't recognize it.
Maybe it's a dicfor? |
OH NO! Now we're getting 'Spies Like Us' References.........
Chevy would be so proud of this thread:) |
You are holding it in the first pic the old way, that was when it was called the L bracket.
You need to flip it and rotate it to the newer, faster version, the 7 bracket. |
FOR SALE: 1 Ultra-rare NLA 1972 four-door "7-bracket". $3000 or will entertain trade for factory longhood sport-seats.
|
So, if it is someone else's part, what part are you missing that they got?
Cheers, Emerald |
