Jacking up the front end
HI THERE
HOW DO YOU LIFT THE FRONT END BOUGHT SOME STAND 10" high, and I can't get the car high enough with my floor jack also it does not go under the car |
I believe and recall placing my jack stands underneath the Front Stone Guard Mounts ( the front bar that protects the front condensor )
Be very carefull to insure they are sitting properly before you let the jack down all the way. Have a help keep an eye on it. Just my experience. I did one side at time, little at a time with my 3 ton jack stands |
Oh yeah Welcome aboard! Any pics?

I am using jack pads that slide into the jack point on the side of the car.
On my car, in able to get the jack stands under the front end in the position DRACO mentioned, I have to use a 2x4 on top of the floor jack and set the jack pad on top of that. It then gets the car high enough to get he jack stand underneath. |
The process I use to get the front on jack stands under the front A arm mounts is as follows:
(1) Using the jack pad raise each side and get the rear up on jack stands at each torsion bar cover. (2) Once the rear is on stands the front can be jacked at one of the front jack points behind the front fenders. With the rear on stands as a pivot point the front will lift easily, evenly & safely. (3) Whenever I have the car up on stands I ALWAYS have a pair of jacks under the jack pads or jack points as secondary protection before I crawl underneath. |
jacking front end.
I use my atv/ motorcycle jack to pick it. A piece of hardwood dunnage from toe hook to toe hook and lift in the center. Works really nice and you have a built in lock with that jack.

I have a set of homemade ramps made of 2x6 lumber stagger stacked so the highest point is 3 pieces thick (4.5" high). That way once I drive up on the wood, the front is high enough to get my 3 ton jack with a block of wood under one of the front torsion bar covers and lift it high enough to get jack stands under the chassis with sufficient height to roll under it with my creeper.

Does anyone just put a jack under one of the front torsion bar mounts and jack up the whole front of the car?
I have done this forever and have had no apparent problems. I forget where I got the notion that this was ok but it seems to be. |
