Cigarette Lighter Size?

Is the cigarette lighter on an '88 "standard" size. Mine appears to be a bit larger than a domestic as any device I plug into it (GPS, phone charger, etc.) continually pops out. Maybe just worn out?
Thanks, Tom

I tried the factory air compressor out of my 993 in a Honda and the lighter socket plug was too big to fit. Appears Porsche does not use a standard size. No idea why.

I noticed our Mercedes also has the same sized cigar lighter as the 911. It is definately larger than the one in the Tahoe or F150.

They are a bit larger in all euro cars. Some radar detectors come with a sleeve, but you can make one youself with a little ductape.

The socket in my '88 is a little large too. I think they just came that way. Try wrapping some black electrical tape around the plug you are using. That will make it a little larger, for a snug fit.

Some phone stores have a sleeve that you pop in to fix the problem. Saw them a few years back; may still be available.

My 82 has same problem you have; the 96 does not.

I just trimmed some plastic from a milk jug & used a bit of electrical tape to hold it in place...
