Turn signal doesn't work HELP

Okay, I'm stumped! I have a 1972 911t that had a rat problem early in it's life (before me). They chewed threw a few of the wires behind the fresh air blower which stopped the clock, the glove box light and overhead light. Also when I bought the car the horn and turning signals didn't work. I don't think the turn signal issue is related to the rats but I mention it just in case I'm wrong.

So I went through and repaired the damaged wires and replaced the contact bar in the steering wheel that activates the horn. Everything works now except for the turning signal.

I've read all the posts and done all the obvious stuff and it still doesn't work. The flashers work. I replaced the flasher relay just to check but that didn't change anything. Well actually something did change, if I jiggle the relay or set it in the housing just right I get the turning signal to respond sort of. Sometimes when I switch the turn signal stalk the opposite light on the dash will come on but the clicking sound in the relay never happens and the rear lights don't come on or flash. BTW the "parking" lights work(when car is off)when I switch the stalk to the left the left rear light comes on and when I swich to the right the right comes on.

I feel like something most be disconnected but I've been through the entire system and can't see anything obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm including a picture of the one brown wire that isn't connected to anything and comes from the turn signal assembly just in case it has to do with anything.

thanks!

Take a look at this classic thread : Turn signal switch quick fix pictures, it should contain everything you need to fix the turn signals.
